Flowerstone: Fashion Reuse and Restyle |
Hi, I'm Bebe. If shopping at high end stores for unique yet pricey items leaves you with the feeling that you've sacrificed a little bit of your soul (and a lot of your wallet) ... this is where you'll get a little daily perspective on how to shop for, reuse and re-style old pieces of clothing that you probably would never look twice at. I'll give tips on how to shop in a vintage and thrift environment and ideas on how to restyle things in your closet that might be an inch from wardrobe retirement. All photos are of either me or my friends dressed in thrift, vintage, and/or reconstructed pieces mixed in with newly bought items--- Can you tell which items are "used"? ;) |
been a while here is one of my most comfortable thrifted outfits… The top is a lightweight breathable poly and the pants 100% silk …the necklace I found for a dollar (I left the tag on ;) at Eco …it was so weird and looked straight out of the Flinstones so I had to have it ^_^ (Taken with instagram)

In the meantime enjoy more from the shoot. She is in a repost of a top I purchased from Goodwill and a skirt I purchased from Eco :)

When I was searching for items that I wanted to color block with I looked foremost for brights in really interesting hues and tones and secondarily took into consideration the material. I tend to draw more towards the lightweight satin, silk and polyester finds since those fabrics will allow my colors to stay strong after the wash compared to other cotton blends and for resale items quality of wear is key!
Top $0.80 TheThriftStore
Skirt $0.80 TheThriftStore
Belt VVI
My spring color block shoot with Marisa :) I think the best tip I can give in terms of color blocking is referencing that old color wheel from art class …but even if you didn’t take are in school you can still consider some things to help in your decision making process… contrasting and complimentary colors are key (i.e. reds and greens, yellows and blues) or take it a step further (pink and orange, purple and teal) it helps to make the colors pop more when the colors you choose aren’t too harshly similar.
Top $1.40 TheThriftStore
Pants $0.60 TheThriftStore
Shoes VVI
I went a little crazy this time but came back with some amazing finds for my spring thrift color block edition —- and everything came to $15 total! :D
