Flowerstone: Fashion Reuse and Restyle |
Hi, I'm Bebe. If shopping at high end stores for unique yet pricey items leaves you with the feeling that you've sacrificed a little bit of your soul (and a lot of your wallet) ... this is where you'll get a little daily perspective on how to shop for, reuse and re-style old pieces of clothing that you probably would never look twice at. I'll give tips on how to shop in a vintage and thrift environment and ideas on how to restyle things in your closet that might be an inch from wardrobe retirement. All photos are of either me or my friends dressed in thrift, vintage, and/or reconstructed pieces mixed in with newly bought items--- Can you tell which items are "used"? ;) |
My thrift “nightwear” ootd :) top $0.50 goodwill, skirt $1.40 Eco, belt (VVI), shoes (BCBG) Ross, makeup bag/purse $0.50 goodwill
My rainy day ootd. ;) The black blazer I love! It goes with a lot of outfits and should be a staple for many thrifter’s wardrobes. Don’t waste your money on an expensive blazer that costs fifty dollars when you can search for one like this Nine West blazer I found at Goodwill for $3 (an probably originally cost $50). Condition is important so make sure to check the seams and look for a good medium weight blazer with clean lining on the inside. Lining is usually a selling point for me and resale blazers - that and the fit. Unfortunately resale comes with its faults and one of them being that you must accept the size they give you..however it’s also what guarantees you have probably found a unique find. If you find a blazer you absolutely must have take it to the tailor or adjust the sleeves by rolling them. This can really change the look of your fit.
Blazer $3 (Nine West) Goodwill
Sheer Blouse $1 Goodwill
Shoes $40 (Bobbi Blu) Macy’s - they’re about 5 years old now! :)
My Sunday morning ootd :) I’m always drawn to blouses with bows…they really make an outfit look feminine and sophisticated. This particular top I purchased at Salvation Army during my visit to Austin. It’s actually a size XL but I almost always wear it with something high waist like this skirt so problem solved! :)
Blouse $4 (BCBG Maxazria) Salvation
Vest $4 Goodwill
Shoes $25 H&M
Knit Tights $4 Target
This is my friend Cam wearing one of my favorite blazer purchases from goodwill. It’s a plaid acrylic woven blazer with velvet trim lined in polyester and I was so happy when I found it because the fit is great and it works wonderful for that intermittent period between winter and spring.
Blazer $4 Goodwill
Black shorts $12 Macy’s
Shoes $20 (BCBG) Ross
Here is a detail of the blouse Cam had on in the last pic. It’s a nice sheer lace material and I found this during one of my thrifting sprees for $2. It easily adds that nice romantic antique/vintage touch to a lot of my other outfits.
